  The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan has been awarded an honorary doctorate (PhD) by the University of Dar es Salaam. It has been 11 months since he said he tried to do a PhD but due to many responsibilities he failed. The head of state was awarded the doctorate today, Wednesday November 30, 2022 by the Dean of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Jakaya Kikwete at the 52nd graduation of the university held at Mlimani City in Dar es Salaam "With the authority entrusted to me, I am awarding you an honorary degree from the University of Dar es Salaam, congratulations" said Kikwete awarding the honorary doctorate to President Samia.
